Andy's Monday tips - No joy for Houllier
It's going to be an emotional night at Anfield on Monday when Gerard Houllier and his assistant Gary McAllister return to face a team with whom they both enjoyed great success. But I don't think it's going to be a happy reunion for the pair.
Aston Villa are really struggling for numbers at the moment and the squad is being tested to the maximum with so many out and they face a Liverpool team that is improving under Roy Hodgson.
I was quite impressed with Liverpool at White Hart Lane, and on another day they could have won it quite easily. To get collared so late in the game was harsh but Spurs are flying and there was much to like about the visiting side that day in the other 90 minutes! I certainly expect them to beat Aston Villa on Monday night anyway.
It won't be easy however. Liverpool are without Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher but some of the new arrivals and fringe players have impressed me - Raul Meireles in particular. The Portuguese midfielder looked to be taking responsibility in some dead ball situations and let the odd shot fly. He is the sort of character Hodgson will be looking to this season as Liverpool attempt to shake off that bad start.
