Day 36: We're backing Colchester and Wycombe to draw at [3.85]

Betting that a cup match in which an in-form League One team are hosting a League Two side who are not as high up the table as many expected will finish as a draw is a bold call, however the statistics supporting such a wager, and delicious odds of [3.85], make it irresistible.

Colchester are one of only two Football League teams yet to taste defeat in their division but seven of their ten games - and crucially four of their five at the Weston Homes Community Stadium - have finished level.

Their visitors tonight are Wycombe Wanderers, who were relegated from League One last term and whose predicted promotion push is only just coming to fruition after a slow start. The Chairboys have played away from home five times so far this season and four of those matches have finished level.

If those two form trends aren't enough to convince you that the draw is the best bet for this evening's clash in Essex then how about this - the last three encounters between the two clubs, including two in 2009-10, were all drawn 1-1.

Don't doubt Wycombe's ability to handle the step up in class either. They held Millwall for 90 minutes in the Carling Cup in August and of course reached the semi-finals of that competition four years ago, seeing off Fulham, a semi-decent Charlton and holding Chelsea on that journey.

Our bet: We're backing Colchester and Wycombe to draw at [3.85], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £28.50. The same punt with Paddy Power only pays out £24. Sign up for a new account now and have losing bets up to a total of £30 refunded for a week.
