The Betfair Football £10 Bet of the Day

Day 158: We're backing over 2.5 goals when Accrington host Hereford at [1.96]

Though we're still posting a pleasing £126.60 overall profit for our £10 daily wagers, it's been a disappointing week so far. On a relatively football-free Wednesday, our efforts to get back on track lead us to the League Two encounter between Accrington Stanley and Hereford United.

There's plenty at stake in this fixture as Accrington attempt to propel themselves into the play-off picture and Hereford bid to get as many points on board as possible to secure survival and we're banking on the urgency of both sides to translate into goals, with over 2.5 offered at [1.96].

There's no shortage of encouraging statistics for the flutter, as Accrington have scored more home goals than any club in the entire division besides Chesterfield, while Hereford have the eighth most prolific away attack despite having been stuck 17th or lower in the table since August.

Equally uplifting is the fact that the hosts have managed to breach the over 2.5 goal mark of their own accord in recent games at the Crown Ground, as they have scored three times in each of their last three there, and four of the last five.

If John Coleman's team fail to scale those heights tonight - though there's no reason to doubt them given that Phil Edwards, Terry Gornell and Sean McConville (pictured) have all reached double figures already - then Hereford can be relied on to contribute, having failed to net just once in eight on their travels since Christmas.

Our bet: We're backing Accrington and Hereford to provide over 2.5 goals at [1.96], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £9.60. The same punt pays only £8 with Paddy Power and Victor Chandler. Sign up for a new account now and have your first bet of up to £25 refunded if it loses.
