The Betfair Football £10 Bet of the Day
Day 11: We're backing Tranmere to win against Accrington Stanley at [1.8]
While it's all go off the pitch today, on the grass there's not a lot happening. It's international week which means all that lovely football we've been enjoying of the past few weeks stops to make way for the Euro 2012 qualifiers. Great.
Anyway, we're looking at the Johnstone's Paint Trophy for our punt today, and we like the look of a glamour tie between Tranmere and Accrington Stanley.
Despite their poor start to the season - they've picked up only two points from their opening four league games - we fancy Tranmere in this clash. They have a pretty impressive record at home and have lost just once in their last 11 league games at Prenton Park.
Perhaps even more impressive is the calibre of opposition they beat in those games. With relegation a very real possibility last term, they managed to see off Millwall and Norwich to ease themselves away from the drop zone.
Stanley and Tranmere have met in the Johnstones Paint Trophy before, with Tranmere coming out on top 1-0 in 2008. Of greater concern to Accrington Stanley though will be their away record - they have only won once in their last 12 games on the road.
Tranmere didn't fare too well in their last cup outing at Prenton Park - they lost 3-1 to Swansea in the Carling Cup a fortnight ago - but things should be different today.
Our bet: We're backing Tranmere to beat Accrington Stanley at [1.8], meaning that - before commission is considered - we stand to win £8.00. The same bet pays only £7.00 with Ladbrokes. Get a free bet and back this now!
