Winning start for new Southampton boss
To say it's been an interesting start to the season for Southampton is something of an understatement.
They began the season as favourites to win League One (at [5.1] they still are), before getting only one point from their first two games. They then beat Bristol Rovers 4-0 and promptly sacked boss Alan Pardew. Are you keeping up?
Another two defeats against Rochdale and Swindon Town followed before the appointment of Nigel Adkins as permanent boss this week. And Adkins - who allegedly doubled his money by stepping down a division - is confident he can get things moving in the right direction again.
He said: "I've said to all the players, it's about the team, together everyone achieves more, and if we can do that and everyone buys into the philosophy about it we give ourselves an opportunity to do it."
He could certainly have an easier start to his reign than an away trip to Milton Keynes, but the Saints should come away with a much needed three points.
The Dons may have won their last two home games, but they were their first wins on home soil in five games. Karl Robinson's side haven't won a home game by more than a single strike since February, and have conceded 12 goals in their last ten matches at the Denbigh Stadium, so the Saints will fancy their chances.
With Adkins now in place, we fancy the rejuvenated south coast side to come away with a win at [2.56].
Striker Lee Barnard is missing for the visitors though, and with the Saints failing to score in their previous three attempts, goals may be hard to come by, so backing under 2.5 goals at [1.94] could be worth a couple of quid.
Reckon we're right? Or could MK Dons get a win at [3.0]? Let us know what you think below...
