Big odds on Betfair as Peterborough go up

Having been the most prolific scorers in the Football League this season, it was quite fitting that Peterborough secured a return to the Championship courtesy of a spurt of three goals in the space of eight second-half minutes at Old Trafford.

There is no doubt that Posh gained promotion the hard way, overcoming a Huddersfield side that hadn't lost a League One fixture throughout 2011 until Sunday afternoon, and the brave punters that backed them to beat such a tough team 3-0 on Betfair were understandably well rewarded.

Anyone that stuck £10 on Darren Ferguson's men triumphing by such an emphatic margin received a summer holiday-financing profit of £389.50 - even accounting for the maximum five per cent commission - whereas Victor Chandler users pocketed just £220 for the exact same wager.

It was similarly beneficial to bet £10 on Betfair that the game would be level at the interval with Peterborough celebrating upon the final whistle, as those that did collected £62.70, a significant improvement on the £50 that Blue Square, Bet Clic, Victor Chandler and SportingBet paid out.

There was also more money to be made betting against other people on Betfair in the Championship play-off final as Swansea saw off the challenge of Reading 4-2 at Wembley.

Those that backed the Welsh club to lead at half-time and full-time to a £10 stake claimed £37.05, while Unibet customers were forced to settle for only £27.

Don't take our word for it though, why not test Betfair yourself using Betchecker?
