Back Huddersfield to secure promotion

The Champions League Final will be the most watched tie of the weekend but the League One and League Two play-off finals are a big deal too. Here are the bets we are planning for both Old Trafford showdowns...

Huddersfield v Peterborough (Sunday, 3pm, Sky Sports 1)

Lee Clark described the celebrations that followed his Huddersfield side's penalty shootout success against Bournemouth in the semi-finals as his greatest moment in football, and the jury is out as to whether that will be swiftly surpassed as their three clashes with Peterborough this season have produced a win, loss and draw.

The one thing that can be depended on is goals, with both teams netting in each of those encounters and the Terriers two in the last round following suit, so consider backing both to net at [1.63] and over 2.5 goals at a more appetising [1.84].

In terms of the match outcome, the draw may prove a shrewd punt at [3.5] as Huddersfield's last three fixtures have ended that way, while it will take something special for Posh to overcome them in 90 minutes given their 27-game undefeated run. That renders them worthy favourites to go up at [1.9], with Darren Ferguson [2.08] to deliver at Old Trafford.

Stevenage v Torquay (Saturday, 3pm, Sky Sports 1)

For only the second time in the last 20 years, the League Two play-off final will be contested by the two lowest-ranked regular season teams, and though Stevenage finished higher, Torquay are justifiably favourites to win the game at [2.76], with the [2.0] on them gaining promotion even more tempting.

The Gulls regained their place in the Football League two years ago through the play-offs, with Stevenage one of the three clubs that missed out, and have ended the campaign looking at times unbeatable at the back, keeping seven clean sheets in nine. They haven't conceded in four meetings with Graham Westley's men, yet are a tasty [3.2] to shut them out.

Agree that Huddersfield and Torquay will be promoted? The double is [3.55]...
