The good, bad and barely acceptable

It was all about the Football League this afternoon as Leagues One and Two took centre stage. Here's our take on it all...

THE GOOD

Hartlepool
The most prolific team in League One, Peterborough, visited Hartlepool, who have the Football League's worst home defensive record, yet wound up 2-0 losers! Jake Kean, the 19-year-old goalkeeper on loan from Blackburn, was the hero as Posh blew the chance to climb top of the table - they're [6.0] to win the league.

Bradford
The 2-0 victory at Barnet was a massive, massive result for the Bantams and under-pressure boss Peter Taylor. Not because it was their first away win and not even because they exit the drop zone at their opponents success but because they scored twice, in the same game, having managed only four goals in their first ten.

THE BAD

Brentford
Big things were expected from Andy Scott's side this season after they finished ninth on their return to League One last term. However, while they've dumped Hull and Everton out of the Carling Cup, and have beaten Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton in the league, they don't produce consistently, and their 3-1 home loss to Oldham leaves them bottom.

Port Vale
It was bottom versus top in League Two as Hereford hosted Port Vale. The Bulls had physio Jamie Pitman in charge after sacking Simon Davey and played over an hour with ten men yet somehow took a point off the table-toppers. Fortunately for Micky Adams, the three teams directly below his all drew, so they remain [5.6] favourites to finish first.

THE BARELY ACCEPTABLE

Brighton
Gus Poyet's anger at the controversial injury-time penalty that earned third-placed Bournemouth a point against the leaders at the Withdean Stadium will have cooled somewhat when he saw that Carlisle were the only top-eight club to triumph. Brighton are [6.4] to win the title.

Crewe
Last week, they squandered a three-goal lead away at Chesterfield in an incredible 5-5 draw, so their 3-3 draw at home to out-of-form Torquay in a match they trailed 3-1 in with 18 minutes to go went some way to erasing the disappointment. They remain in the bottom half though.
