Luton capable of ending Charlton's revival

Phil Parkinson might not be the toast of every Charlton supporter, however he's gone a long way to silencing the perhaps premature calls for his dismissal that followed their 4-0 home loss to Brighton in October by inspiring a ten-match unbeaten run that has lifted them to second in League One.

It's not just in the league that things are looking up for the Addicks either. They are two rounds from Wembley in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and victory in their FA Cup second round replay at Luton on Thursday night will secure a reunion with ex Premier League rivals Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

However, despite the one-time top-four bothering south Londoners heading to Kenilworth Road as [2.46] favourites, we're not convinced that they'll be enjoying a glamorous derby on the first Saturday of 2010.

Charlton's form has tailed off in recent weeks, a sequence of four successive triumphs being followed by two underwhelming draws at The Valley, and Luton away is pretty much as challenging as it gets when it comes to travelling to a non-league ground.

The Hatters - a tempting [3.0] to win and [2.3] to qualify - have the best home record in the Blue Square Premier and have been defeated only once in front of their fans all season - to Crawley, the title favourites and a team who won away to Swindon in an FA Cup second round replay earlier this week.

With on-loan forward Jason Walker cup-tied, Richard Money's side will be relying on Andy Drury, their hero in the initial tie, and Matthew Barnes-Homer for goals and while the latter hasn't been too prolific of late, the [3.5] on him coming good again and finding the net appeals.
