Charlton will suffer even more cup misery
It started as one of the greatest periods in their history, however Charlton have had very little success in cup competitions in the 21st century, as summed up by the fact arguably their most memorable triumph - knocking Carling Cup holders Chelsea out at Stamford Bridge in 2005, was followed by a home loss to Blackburn.
The Addicks' record has been even more dismal in recent years, as it would have to be to still stand out while their drop down the divisions attracts more attention. Their last five away cup matches have all ended in elimination, the most shameful being the FA Cup exit to non-league Northwich and a 4-3 Carling Cup defeat to League Two Shrewsbury in August, having led 3-0.
Given that backlog of mishaps, the odds of [2.54] offered on MK Dons being the latest team to get the better of them in knockout action in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tonight look very attractive, not least because the Dons are unbeaten in seven home games under new boss Karl Robinson.
The Buckinghamshire-based club only came to prominence in 2004 yet they've had far more to sing about in terms of cup progress than Charlton fans since then, winning this competition under Paul Ince in 2007-08, reaching the semis last season and dumping Blackpool out of this year's Carling Cup.
MK Dons aren't quite as effective at keeping clean sheets though, having mustered just two in 13 outings under the Football League's youngest manager, so other bets to consider for this tie include over 2.5 goals at [2.06] and 2-1 to the hosts at [11.0].
