Wednesday's Johnstone's Paint multiple

Wednesday's suggested bet: Back Brighton to win against Leyton Orient and Sheffield Wednesday to beat Notts County for combined odds of [3.06]

It's not the trophy you dream about winning when kicking a can around cobbled streets as a child, but as Alan Pardew found out last year it's a great way to show your club is on the up and that doing all the right things. Or not.

Anyway, we like the look of Brighton at home to Leyton Orient in our first pick. The Seagulls have got off to a very decent start picking up seven points in their opening three games. Leyton Orient haven't started quite as well and have only picked up four points from as many games.

Orient have only won twice in their last 21 away games, while Brighton haven't lost in seven Football League trophy games at the Withdean Stadium. We can see this finishing with a comfortable win for Brighton.

Newly-relegated Sheffield Wednesday face newly-promoted Notts County at Hillsborough, with the home team expected to easily win - and we reckon they will do.

The Owls sit on top of League One having picked up ten points from their opening four games and smashed Hartlepool 5-0 at the weekend. After beginning their season with two 3-0 losses, County have picked up with a win against Dagenham and Redbridge and a draw away to Bournemouth in recent weeks.

However, Wednesday are in a different class to those teams, and County will learn all about life in League One from their outing in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
