Back Bournemouth and Charlton tonight
In addition to today's Championship encounters, there are some massive collisions in League One - where Brighton look to avoid the curse of the frontrunners - and League Two - where first face second. These are five of the tastiest fixtures, and our bet recommendations for each...
Bournemouth v Exeter
The two teams with the best chance of capitalising on any slip by table-toppers Brighton are Peterborough, who are an attractive [1.81] to see off Notts County and third-placed Bournemouth, who host in-form Exeter, currently eighth. It's one of those "something has to give" ties as Exeter are unbeaten in four away outings in all competitions, while Bournemouth have scored 13 times already at Dean Court. We think the home record carries more weight, so will back the Cherries at [2.02].
Brighton v Brentford
Brentford are having a very strange season, knocking Hull and Everton out of the Carling Cup and kick-starting the current Sheffield Wednesday collapse, yet finding themselves in the League One relegation zone. A trip to leaders Brighton doesn't seem like the ideal place to get back on the track, however there hasn't been one occasion this term where the team top of the third-tier have won their next match. For that reason, Gus Poyet's men look a decent lay prospect at [1.85].
Charlton v MK Dons
These are two clubs who, after opening the campaign well, have fallen back a bit but it's Charlton who we fancy to issue the more encouraging response this evening at [2.3]. The Addicks have lost just three home games since dropping into League One in 2009 and the most recent of those came against Norwich in April. MK Dons have suffered four successive away defeats.
Port Vale v Shrewsbury
Vale Park will stage the League Two match of the season to date as pacesetting Port Vale welcome second-placed Shrewsbury. Micky Adam's side have won four on the spin, though three of those were against bottom-seven opponents. Both have only been beaten once in 2010-11 and the smart money is on that continuing with a draw at [3.4]. An alternative option is to lay Vale at [2.2].
Rotherham v Bradford
Should the clash between the top two finish level, Rotherham will have a chance to leapfrog both with a three-goal victory over Bradford, who are making a mockery of their status as pre-season title favourites by languishing third-bottom with seven points. Just one of those were picked up on the road, at home win-less Stockport, so the Millers should triumph at [1.8].
