Villarreal won't be shown up by Barcelona

Already this season, Barcelona have destroyed Atletico Madrid's 100 per cent start to the campaign by winning at the Vicente Calderon, ended Valencia's unbeaten opening at the Nou Camp last month and ruined Sevilla's progress under Gregorio Manzano by inflicting on them a humiliating 5-0 defeat.

So Villarreal, another of the group expected to battle for the imaginary crown of "best of the rest", will head to Catalonia with some trepidation on Saturday night despite having gone 11 games without a loss domestically since suffering at the hands of Real Sociedad on the opening matchday.

Barcelona are [1.26], and while they haven't been too impressive at home besides the Sevilla romp, Villarreal's only away victories have come against strugglers Levante and Malaga.

They haven't been beaten on three trips to face the champions though, so Villarreal +1.5 & +2.0 appeals on the Asian Handicap at [2.05], a bet in which you more than double your money unless Barcelona win by two or more, while you recover half of your stake if they win by precisely two.

Revenge will be on Real Madrid's minds this weekend as they look to avoid a repeat of last year's costly away draw against Sporting Gijon. Back them to keep a clean sheet at [1.99], as Sporting haven't scored in any of their last five home ties against Los Blancos.

Atletico Madrid should respond to last week's derby no-show by overcoming terrible travellers Osasuna at [1.64], and Valencia ([1.65]) have a great chance to return to form hosting Getafe, who have been leaky of late. The two can be backed in a double at odds of [2.57] using the Betfair Coupon.
