MOT your multiple - unlikely leader treble

Every week, we pick out what we believe will prove a popular weekend multiple and put it to the test, offering an alternative if we're not convinced that the standout selection is the correct one.

While European giants such as Germany, Italy and England (no giggling please, Scottish readers!) have wasted no time in storming to the top of their Euro 2012 qualifying groups, there are surprise leaders in several of the others, most notably Albania, Norway and Scotland.

We therefore thought an interesting multiple to look at was whether they can stay top with victories on Friday night, when Albania welcome Bosnia, Norway visit Cyprus and Scotland travel to the Czech Republic. The obvious treble on all three winning pays out a staggering £194.10 for a fiver stake.

Would we make any changes to that bet? We'd keep Norway in there, with odds of [2.36] deliciously tempting in the context of their recent run of eight triumphs in nine games. The other two are trickier calls, as they face tougher tests, however it's certainly feasible that the trio will avoid defeat.

Albania are playing Bosnia at the perfect time, not just because they are unbeaten in seven matches in an incredible streak during which they've conceded only once but also because Bosnia are on a downer after blowing a massive opportunity by losing 2-0 at home to France last month.

Those trends indicate that Albania should be backed to take three points, yet we're won't do the same with Scotland. It's been over two years since the Tartan Army last won abroad, though Czech Republic's struggles - and the fact Scotland beat them in March - tells us that the hosts are a lay.

Therefore, our alternative suggestion is to punt on wins for Norway and Albania, and to lay Czech Republic against Scotland. A fiver on that treble will deliver a profit of £77.20 if successful.
