Levein will have to go if Scots don't qualify
A good performance from Scotland against Spain was meant to lay to rest the ghost of Friday's toothless and strikerless display against the Czech Republic.
Instead though, Scotland's gritty and passionate display in their 3-2 defeat it brought it into even sharper focus.
Kenny Miller looked in fine form, and the Scots attacked the World Champions at every opportunity. But even as Gerard Pique was firing past his own goalkeeper to make it 2-2, most Scottish fans will have been thinking; 'if we can do this against Spain, then why didn't we do it against the Czech Republic?'
Scotland now trail the Czech Republic by two points having played a game more. The Czechs still have to play Spain twice though, and Levein will be praying Vicente del Bosque's side can do him and his team two massive favours.
The Czechs are now second favourites to win the group at [11.0], with Scotland trailing well back at [30.0].
If Scotland fail to make the play-offs from this group then everyone will look back to Friday night and his decision to field ten defenders against the Czechs as the moment it all went wrong.
Failure to finish second would have made Levein's position as Scotland boss difficult anyway, but now it would now be impossible.
What do you think? Is Friday night all water under the bridge? Let us know below...
