Montenegro head to Wembley in top spot

When the Euro 2012 qualifying groups were drawn in February, we described Montenegro as "easily the worst nation to draw in pot five". Nobody however could have predicted that they'd get underway with three successive wins.

Victories over Wales, Bulgaria and Switzerland - each by the same 1-0 margin - mean that they hold a three-point lead at the top of Group G ahead of Tuesday's clash with fellow 100 per cent record holders and group favourites England at Wembley.

England are [1.24] to win that clash and reclaim top spot, however Montenegro have put themselves in such a strong position by beating their three play-off place rivals that they can afford to lose in London and will still be in the top two at the halfway point in March.

Montenegro are a whopping [16.5] to deliver their biggest shock success yet and [11.0] to finish first. That's likely to prove a test too far though as the Three Lions have won 11 matches in succession at Wembley and have started this campaign in fine form.

Elsewhere in Group G, Brian Flynn is out to [3.4] to be given the Wales job on a permanent basis after the first game of his audition ended in a 1-0 home defeat to previously pointless Bulgaria. Ian Rush is the frontrunner to succeed John Toshack at [2.08].

Flynn has one more chance to convince the FAW that he's their man away to bottom-of-the-table Switzerland. Ottmar Hitzfeld's side have been at the last four international tournaments but already look out of the running, and Wales are [6.4] to add to their misery.

What did you make of Flynn's debut in the dugout? Can Montenegro surprise England? Share your thoughts on Group G with a comment in the box below...
