The Betfair Football £10 Bet of the Day
Day 157: We're backing over 2.5 goals when England host Ghana at [2.22]
This is at the very least the third time that we have backed over 2.5 goals at above-evens in an England friendly, and it's a policy that hasn't failed us yet.
The last six times that the Three Lions have competed with the pressure off, or at least minimised because even setbacks in friendlies prompt seismic overreactions from some pundits, three or more goals have followed, while looking back over a longer period, nine of their last ten have had over 2.5.
Ghana are never dull to watch either, which is one of the reasons they were well liked throughout their run to the World Cup quarter-finals, and they have been prolific so far in 2011, scoring a combined seven goals in collisions with Togo and Congo.
Additionally, England's goalless draw with overachieving Montenegro in their last match at Wembley was their first in 14 home internationals to fall below the under 2.5 goal mark, and that was far less of a surprise given that Zlatko Kranjcar's side stunningly haven't conceded in seven games.
Ghana on the other hand concede with far greater frequency, their only clean sheet in five encounters last summer in South Africa coming in their opening fixture against Serbia. That aside, they've leaked at least one in four of their last five clashes with European countries.
Our bet: We're backing England and Ghana to provide over 2.5 goals at [2.22], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £12.20. The same punt pays only £10 with Sky Bet, Coral and Betfred. Sign up for a new account now and have your first bet of up to £25 refunded if it loses.
