There are plenty of unhappy England fans on the Betfair football forum right now after last night's loss and Steven Gerrard and Fabio Capello are two of the main targets, while there have been words of praise for France and, in particular, Karim Benzema...

"There is an all round lack of quality, particularly in midfield. And midfield is the worst place to be short on quality because you get exposed everywhere else." - sintonian

"For 75 minutes that was like watching Joe Kinnear's Wimbledon. Why are we playing long ball s*** rubbish? Are we really that crap?" - Geesyerdosh

"Gerrard is good at getting in the box and having lots of pot shots, I'll agree. He is athletic and quick as well - no argument there. When did he stop tackling? As a deep-lying midfielder, which he wanted to be for Liverpool and England, he is inept. He has no eye for a pass at all. A good but not great player who should have been discarded after his latest abject failure in the summer." - middles-for-dough

"France looked different class for most of the match. It's nice when all your players look relaxed on the ball, most of our always looked rushed and unsure. Better stuff with Adam Johnson and Ashley Young when they came on." - anfieldkings

"I think I must be the only one on here who really rates Karim Benzema. He in my opinion is a fantastic player when on form and yes, I know he hasn't shown it for quite some time, but that goal last night against the English was a belter. If this guy goes to the Premier League at the start of next season, lump on him for top goalscorer, as I'm sure he will be a handy price, given no one seems to win it in their first season, but alas stats are there to be taken on in some cases and this is one. So take a bow Benzema, that was a cracker of a goal." - cammy glasgow
