The Betfair Football £10 Bet of the Day
Day 68: We're backing LDU Quito to beat Independiente at [1.51]
It's been a pretty good week for our £10 daily wager and with £13.30 already sewn up, we're going to adopt a cautious approach today given the lack of games and stick our money on a short-priced favourite.
The match we're focussing on is the Copa Sudamericana (the South American version of the Europa League) semi-final first leg between holders LDU Quito and Argentine club Independiente - available to watch on Betfair Live Video at 12.30am - in which we're siding with the Ecuadorian hosts at [1.51].
LDU Quito have reached a continental final in each of the last two seasons, having won the even more prestigious Copa Libertadores in 2008, earning them the chance to face Manchester United in that year's Club World Cup Final, and they are soaring domestically at the moment.
By contrast, Independiente are in the lower reaches of the Argentine Primera Division, triumphing just twice, and they've been scrapping their way through their last few Copa Sudamericana ties despite being handed a reasonable draw.
Their away record in all competitions is absolutely dismal with not a single victory to show for their last dozen trips and that doesn't bode at all well when visiting a side who are in sensational home form, having won 16 of their last 17 at La Casa Blanca.
Our bet: We're backing LDU Quito to defeat Independiente at [1.51], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £5.10. The same punt pays only £3.64 with Bet365. Sign up for a new account now and have losing bets up to a total of £30 refunded for a week.
