The in-play guide to Brazil versus Scotland

Scotland have faced Brazil on nine occasions before without winning, which is why they are [11.0] to finally beat the five-time world champions at the Emirates on Sunday. The match is live on ITV1 at 2pm, and here are three trends that will hopefully help you make money as the action unfolds...

Scotland aren't easy to unlock
Craig Levein has been mocked for what is viewed as an overly cautious approach, but his tactics are proving effective at least in a defensive sense as the earliest his team have conceded in their last six encounters is the 44th minute, while in five of those they have got to half-time with their sheet still clean. Brazil backers may therefore be rewarded for waiting until the 40th minute to bet for a bigger price than the current [1.4].

Don't expect a massacre
On the other hand, if Brazil do score early on, don't be tempted to pile in over 2.5 or 3.5 goals. Instead, it may be shrewder to do the opposite in that instance as Brazil rarely humiliate friendly opponents, with just one victory since the start of 2009 coming by a margin greater than 3-0. Additionally, four of their seven prior triumphs over Scotland have come by one goal and two by two.

If it's goalless at half-time, Scotland can win
Brazil have failed to score in the second half of four of their last six matches and in the last two that have been goalless at the interval, they have ended losing 1-0, while they have gone three games without success in fixtures that have been 0-0 at the break. That means that they should be laid if Scotland hold out until half-time.
