Day 194: We're backing Torpedo Vladimir to beat Ural at [3.5]
Our first taste of betting in the Russian second tier was an enjoyable one on Tuesday as Volgar-Gazprom eased to a 2-0 victory over fellow strugglers Fakel to end their losing streak, and we had so much fun that we're going back there today for a bet at even longer odds.
Promoted Torpedo Vladimir are [3.5] to triumph over an Ural side just a point above them in the table, with their inexperience at this level surely the only reason that they are available to back at such lengthy odds, given that their home record since going up has been relatively impressive.
They have won three of their last five in front of their fans, with Premier League dropouts Sibir Novosibirsk the last team forced to leave the aptly-named Torpedo Stadium empty-handed, while the only clubs that have defeated them there are leaders Alaniya and fifth-placed Yenisey.
Opponents Ural are top-half regulars but are only just creeping in the top ten at present after an underwhelming start to the campaign in which they have collected four wins and four losses from ten games.
They've taken three points on their travels on just one occasion this season and have been beaten in three of their last five away outings, and the momentum gained by their 3-0 success at Volgar-Gazprom last time out on the road was swiftly squandered courtesy of two dreadful home results.
Our bet: We're backing Torpedo Vladimir to defeat Ural at [3.5], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £25. The same punt pays only £15 with Ladbrokes. Sign up for a new account now and have your first bet of up to £25 refunded if it loses.
