Day 182: We're backing UCD to beat Galway United at [1.86]
Galway United finished the last Irish Airtricity Premier Division campaign in poor form and haven't been able to recover from it at the start of the new season, instead hitting new lows with a five-match losing streak that has left them with only five points after 11 matches.
Capital club UCD haven't been much better but have managed to hit form in front of their fans in Dublin in recent weeks to put distance between themselves and the bottom of the table, winning their last two home fixtures against Sligo Rovers and struggling Drogheda United.
Galway on the other hand have won just once so far and even though that success came on their travels, their away record doesn't inspire any confidence, as tracking back to the end of last term, they have triumphed just once in 11 outings on the road, losing on eight occasions in that time.
The visitors can admittedly take confidence from an impressive record over the years at the UCD Bowl, however the recent results when the teams have met are the most significant and they don't make for good reading for Galway.
They failed to find a way past the UCD defence when they hosted them in March, playing out a goalless draw, while the previous encounter also took place on the west coast, with the university side celebrating a resounding 4-1 victory. Back them to build on that by winning at home at [1.86].
Our bet: We're backing UCD to defeat Galway United at [1.86], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £8.60. The same punt pays only £7.27 with Ladbrokes and Betfred. Sign up for a new account now and have your first bet of up to £25 refunded if it loses.
