The Betfair Football £10 Bet of the Day
Day 178: We're backing Nuneaton and Telford to draw at [3.35]
Nuneaton supporters will feel that they haven't had much luck in recent years, having had to climb back up the football pyramid after going bankrupt three years ago, however they've been handed a huge slice of it in being allowed to participate in this year's Blue Square North play-offs.
Kevin Wilkin's side ended the campaign dreadfully to fall from top spot in March to sixth place, yet while only positions two to five usually allow admission to the play-offs, they get to participate too by virtue of fourth-placed Eastwood Town's ground being judged not good enough for promotion.
Their loss has been Nuneaton's gain and as the club formerly known as Boro's last two seasons have ended with play-off success, they will be confident of delivering again in tonight's semi-final against midland rivals Telford, another team badly affected by financial strife in recent years.
Nuneaton host the first leg and will take heart from the fact that Telford boast nowhere near as impressive a play-off record, falling short twice in the last three years.
They are comfortably the best of this term's four participants though, as they proved by collecting 82 points, four of which were gained at the expense of this evening's opponents, who they defeated 4-1 at home and held to a goalless draw earlier this year at Liberty Way.
Another draw is to be anticipated later today at [3.35], especially as Nuneaton have won just one of their last five as hosts or, looking back over a longer period, four of their last 13, while Telford have lost just twice away all season, settling for a point in three of their last four outings.
Our bet: We're backing Nuneaton and Telford to draw at [3.35], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £23.50. The same punt pays only £22 with Ladbrokes. Sign up for a new account now and have your first bet of up to £25 refunded if it loses.
