The Betfair Football £10 Bet of the Day
Day 175: We're backing Clyde to win at Elgin at [2.58]
It's rare for us to contemplate backing an away win for our £10 daily wager but having covered the two biggest games taking place today elsewhere, we wanted to pick another match to look at and in attempting to identify a winner in Elgin's clash with Clyde, the visitors appeal more at [2.58].
Both clubs are in the bottom half of the Scottish Third Division, with Elgin actually ten points better off than their opponents, who are right at the foot of the table, however it's Clyde that have shown the greater signs of progress recently, going three unbeaten.
Elgin meanwhile have witnessed their surprise play-off bid come to a spectacular and disappointing conclusion, a run of nine losses in 12, which has involved them taking just a point from the last 18 available to them, sending them spiralling down the table.
They haven't won any of their three encounters to date against Clyde and lost the last of the series at their Borough Briggs ground only ten days ago, so it's impossible to deny that the bottom side are the ones carrying all the momentum into the pair's final collision of the campaign.
If you require more convincing before backing the Bully Wee then consider this: they have lost just two of their last six on the road - against third-placed Annan and champions Arbroath - whereas Elgin have been defeated in four of their last six matches at hosts.
Our bet: We're backing Clyde to win at Elgin at [2.58], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £15.80. The same punt pays only £12.50 with Bet365. Sign up for a new account now and have your first bet of up to £25 refunded if it loses.
