Day 152: We're backing Arbroath to win at Clyde at [1.71]
Relegated teams almost always struggle to initially adapt to life in a lower division but there are two ways to respond to the disappointment, one being to stay strong during the worst of it and come out fighting and the other is allow morale to slide and get stuck in an inescapable slump.
Two clubs competing tonight in the Scottish Division Three this evening appear to demonstrate those two contrasting methods of reacting to relegation, with hosts Clyde bottom of the table after another disappointing season and Arbroath top after a spectacular run of form.
So while [1.71] is a shorter price on an away win than we usually opt for, the contrasting momentum of the two sides in question vindicates backing Arbroath, who have collected 46 points from their last 18 league games compared to Clyde's utterly dreadful tally of nine points over the same period.
Arbroath have won each of their last four, scoring an impressive 11 goals in the process to put themselves in pole position for an instant return to Division Two, whereas Clyde have drawn one and lost three of their last four and have been beaten in six of their seven meetings with top-three clubs.
The visitors also boast a head-to-head advantage in the fixture having won the last three games between the two by an aggregate score of 7-2, so have to be fancied to deliver again.
Our bet: We're backing Arbroath to win at Clyde at [1.71], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £7.10. The same punt pays only £5.71 with Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and Sky Bet. Sign up for a new account now and have your first bet of up to £25 refunded if it loses.
