See Stuttgart and Wolfsburg's six-pointer!
Werder Bremen, Stuttgart and Wolfsburg are the only teams that have managed to dethrone Bayern Munich over the last seven seasons in the Bundesliga, however dismal campaigns have caused them to all be surprise strugglers this year in what is developing into a gripping battle at the bottom.
That's why, with Borussia Dortmund still well on course to finish first despite last week's defeat to Hoffenheim, we're focussing our preview of this weekend's many Betfair Live Video games that are available for Betfair customers to watch on the relegation scene, where two six-pointers take place.
Just five points divide 12th-placed Werder Bremen from last-placed Borussia Monchengladbach with eight to play and there are two guaranteed spots in the second tier and an unwanted play-off berth up for grabs, with Stuttgart, Kaiserslautern, Frankfurt, St Pauli and Wolfsburg the other protagonists.
Matchday 27 has the potential to be the most pivotal of the season and gets off to a lively start with Borussia Monchengladbach fighting to avoid being cast adrift against Kaiserslautern on Friday night.
The visitors gave their own hopes a big boost last time out with a first victory in nine against Freiburg and as Gladbach's record when it comes to beating the clubs closest to them in the table is dire, with one win in 11 achieved against the six others scrapping for survival, Kaiserslautern appeal at [3.4].
Perhaps the most intriguing fixture of all pits 2006-07 champions Stuttgart against 2008-09 winners Wolfsburg, and the former's run of three straight triumphs over Frankfurt, Schalke and St Pauli has seen the latter displace them as the division's most likely big-name casualties.
Wolfsburg's decision to axe Steve McClaren and bring in Pierre Littbarski was made to safeguard against the drop but has backfired spectacularly as a squad featuring the likes of Diego, Simon Kjaer and Grafite have gone from drawing a lot to losing almost every week.
Given Stuttgart's drastic improvement in recent weeks under their third trainer of the campaign, Bruno Labbadia, [2.04] appears a massive price on them plunging Wolfsburg into even graver trouble.
At the top, Dortmund could move closer to their first title in nine years. They are [1.46] to record a third successive home win on Saturday night against a Mainz side whose Champions League hopes are dwindling, while Bayer Leverkusen are worth a lay at [1.86] on Sunday when hosting a Schalke team performing for the first time since controversially replacing Felix Magath with Ralf Rangnick.
