Borussia Dortmund to briefly take top spot
With the form team in Europe, shock Bundesliga leaders Mainz, not in action until they face Hamburg tomorrow, the division's other unstoppable force, Borussia Dortmund, have the opportunity to briefly climb past them with victory away to Koln this evening.
Incredibly, the six-time Bundesliga champions are available at [1.85] to triumph at the RheinEnergieStadion, despite almost every single trend suggesting that Jurgen Klopp's men are practically guaranteed three points.
Borussia Dortmund have won six straight league matches since their loss to Bayer Leverkusen on the opening weekend, beating two of last season's other top-six finishers on their travels, whereas Koln are third bottom and on a run of four games without success.
Still not convinced? The head-to-head statistics between the sides are even grimmer material for the hosts, who haven't defeated their high-flying opponents in over seven years and haven't picked up a single point in any of their last four encounters.
There is one glimmer of hope we can throw out for Koln supporters, and it's not the fact that Lukas Podolski has already scored a whopping two goals, matching his 2009-10 tally in record-breaking time, it's that they appear to enjoy playing on Fridays.
Since the start of the previous campaign, Koln have played four Bundesliga fixtures on a Friday night without losing, although admittedly three of those have finished level. The draw is [3.85].
Given recent results, it's impossible for us to look past Dortmund though. Another bet to consider is Shinji Kagawa to score at [3.8]. The 21-year-old has responded wonderfully to the blow of not making Japan's World Cup squad and has netted in the visitors' last two away games.
