Betfair Football goes blue for a great cause
Betfair Football turns blue today (Friday) in support of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. By turning the website blue for the weekend, Betfair plans to help The Prostate Cancer Charity with its annual campaign and highlight some of the issues affecting the 250,000 men living with the disease in the UK.
The Prostate Cancer Charity is Betfair's charity of the year and by rebranding the website ahead of a massive weekend of international football, which includes England's crucial Euro 2012 qualifying match against Wales, the move aims to help the charity in its bid to raise awareness.
Turning Betfair Football blue to match the charity's colours and providing links to the Prostate Cancer Awareness Month website will hopefully mean that thousands of customers will take notice of a disease that kills one man in the UK every hour.
Our message is that when it comes to men's health, it does not matter if your team plays in blue, red or black and white stripes. We want all of our readers to show their true colours when it comes to tackling the most common cancer in men.
Betfair's Global Head of Content, Jeremy Sulzmann said: "We're in a unique position where we can speak directly to men who may go on to develop the disease in later life. By simply turning Betfair Football blue we can reach out to our customers and do our bit to help make them aware of this disease."
Mark Bishop, Director of Fundraising for The Prostate Cancer Charity said: "This March we are hoping to make sure that everyone knows about prostate cancer and we are calling on people up and down the country to join us in declaring 'I'm aware'.
"Betfair has pulled out all the stops to help us raise awareness of a disease which kills 10,000 men in the UK every year. By turning Betfair Football blue, thousands more people will be able to join us and give prostate cancer the red card."
Earlier this month, Betfair staff and customers wore blue ties and badges at the Cheltenham Festival in a further attempt to help increase recognition for this most worthy of causes.
