Day 58: We're backing Porto to beat Besiktas at [1.44]

It's been over a decade since a Turkish club won a European trophy but their complete capitulation on the continent has been a very recent phenomenon, as it was just three seasons ago that Fenerbahce reached the Champions League quarter-finals, beating Chelsea in the home leg.

They didn't have a single representative in the last 16 of either competition last year and Besiktas are the only side with a genuine chance of preventing a repeat, though their progress was abruptly halted by a 3-1 home loss to Porto a fortnight ago.

The two-time Champions League and one-time UEFA Cup winners finished a distant third in the Portuguese league last season yet have been absolutely unstoppable since the summer arrival of new coach Andre Villas Boas (pictured), triumphing in 15 of their 16 games.

With a seven-point Liga Sagres advantage already established, domestic dominance is well on the way to being regained, while a 12th successive home victory in the return fixture with Besiktas this evening will wrap up qualification to the knockout rounds and all but secure top spot.

The Dragons are [1.44] to deliver once again, which while short is delicious in the context that the visitors have won only one of their last six matches in 90 minutes.
