Money made on Betfair as Porto finally lose
For the second time in seven months season, Sevilla had a European adventure ended prematurely by Portuguese opponents last night, however at least on this occasion the two-time Europa League winners went out with a bang, inflicting Porto's first loss in either the league or Europe this season.
The Portuguese champions-elect have been in spectacular form since the summer arrival of Andre Villas Boas, who is establishing a reputation similar to the one Jose Mourinho built at the same club and is already being touted as a candidate for a number of major European jobs this summer.
But he was forced to experience a loss for the first time outside of domestic cup competitions last night in a 1-0 reverse that his predecessor might have described as "the most beautiful defeat of my life" given that it sent the [6.6] tournament second favourites through on away goals.
It was a magnificent result for punters that put faith in the Andalusian team as a £10 wager on the Rojiblancos winning 1-0 returned £161.50 - even accounting for the maximum five per cent commission - which was more than double the £80 up for grabs with Ladbrokes and BetClic.
There was also more money to be made betting against other people on Betfair on the encounter being level at the interval with Sevilla eventually coming out on top, with a £10 bet on that combination providing a hefty £104.50 profit compared to just £75 with Stan James.
The 2009 Champions League Final rematch between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich at the San Siro offered another opportunity to land a tidy sum as a £10 punt on Bayern claiming a 1-0 victory paid out £95 on Betfair, whereas Stan James and Ladbrokes customers were forced to settle for £60.
Don't take our word for it though, why not test Betfair yourself using Betchecker?
