Rangers bid to overcome travel-sick Turks
Rangers will hope to take the impetus from their draw at Old Trafford into their clash with Bursaspor at Ibrox this evening.
Although they did well enough away from home in last year's Champions League, picking up draws in Germany and Romania, the Gers home form was woeful - they lost all three of their matches at Ibrox and conceded ten goals in the process.
They should find Bursaspor less challenging opponents than Manchester United, and are priced at [2.18] to pick up their first win in the Champions League since September 2007.
Although the Turks got thumped last time out, succumbing 4-0 at home to Valencia on their Champions League debut, they've enjoyed a faultless start to their domestic season, winning their first five games to top the Süper Lig, with a 2 -0 humbling of giants Galatasaray included. Whether they'll manage to do something similar at Ibrox is another matter though and they are priced at [3.95] to beat Rangers.
Turkish teams have not done well in previous seasons, with Besiktas failing to make it out of the groups last year and Fenerbahce doing the same the year before. With Valencia and Manchester United seen as the obvious favourites in Group C, Bursaspor are given odds of [5.0] to make it out of the group. They'll need to pick up points in Glasgow to stand any chance of doing that.
Rangers will be hoping to recapture the form that saw them get to the 2008 UEFA Cup Final. They only conceded four goals in the whole of that competition and it will be in their defensive steel that they will have to rely on if they are to pick up points away in Turkey and Spain. They'll have to be more adventurous at home, but with Kenny Miller likely to be alone up front, goals are likely to be scarce and a price of [3.2] for there to be under 1.5 goals looks well worth backing.
