Betfair pay best on Ajax's surprise success
Ajax showed Newcastle fans that perhaps they shouldn't be too disappointed that Martin Jol doesn't look like becoming their new manager by responding to the former Tottenham boss' exit earlier in the week with a hugely impressive triumph over Serie A leaders AC Milan at the San Siro.
The Rossoneri named a fairly strong side despite having nothing to play for but Ajax's caretaker manager Frank de Boer was able to deliver a 2-0 victory to confirm his side's place in the Europa League and strengthen his claims for taking the position on a permanent basis.
And while the result was bad news for our Bet of the Day, it was brilliant for anyone who had £10 on the scoreline on Betfair, as they were rewarded with a payout of £256.60, even accounting for the maximum five per cent commission. Ladbrokes customers had to settle for £140 from the same bet.
It was also a good evening for anyone who staked £20 on Marseille beating Chelsea, as Andy Gray predicted the French champions would. That wager provided a £35.72 profit on Betfair, compared to just £28 with Ladbrokes.
Don't take our word for it though, why not test Betfair yourself using Betchecker?
