The weather forecast isn't promising for Wednesday at Trent Bridge but Alan Dudman believes that if the teams do get on to the pitch, the value lies with the Windies.
Team News
Both teams are through to the Super Eights but momentum is a key word, and it is highly unlikely that Sri Lanka we will make any changes to their line up. Trent Bridge should really suit their bowling attack. The lack of runs for Jayasuria and Jayawardene could be put to bed here.
The West Indies may look at Xavier Marshall at three, still a problem position. And with the faster bowlers going for plenty in the tournament so far, leaving out Fidel Edwards may be an option.
Pitch Conditions
The worst of the week's weather forecast seems to be hitting Trent Bridge bang on time for Wednesday's games. It doesn't look too good with heavy rain and thunderstorms predicted on the day. Any involvement in the runs markets comes with a health warning - given the likelihood of a reduced overs match.
The track in Nottingham has been quick and bouncy so far, and it has also turned a fair bit. Messrs Hauritz and Clarke got the ball spinning sideways on Monday against Sri Lanka - and they have nowhere near the class of Murali and Ajantha Mednis (who took 3-20 against the Aussies). Spin could strangle the game after the first six overs - which would suit Sri Lanka.
Match Odds
Sri Lanka trade as favourites at [1.76] in the outright win market, although money is stacking up asking for over [1.85]. It looks too short, and is probably an over-reaction to their win at the start of the week.
The West Indies are easily the value bet here at [2.24], and will probably fancy their chances of going far in the tournament. They look a different side to their disgraceful efforts in the Test sphere and seem to reserve their best for 20 over smashes. Fielding remains a big worry though. They were ropey against Australia.
Top Batsman
Sri Lanka opener Sanatah Jayasuria may be older than the HMV dog, but he is still one of my favourite batsmen. He has yet to get going in England but could be dangerous at over [6.50]. Chris Gayle will undoubtedly be favourite following his brilliant 88 against Australia. He'll be all the rage at [4.00].
Featured market
The Most Sixes market is of interest - even with a rain hit game. The West Indies
are the shorter of the pair at [1.55], but most of the sixes will come from Gayle.
Sri Lanka have a team with more six hitters and could be a nice cover bet at
[2.00 with plenty of options to get out.
Recommended bets:
Back West Indies to beat Sri Lanka @ [2.24]
Back Sanath Jayasuria in top Sri Lanka bat market @ [6.50]
