Champions League T20 Betting: Titans v Perth, Kolkata v Delhi

Sehwag is fit after injury

"Siding with the Titans is a no brainer"

Titans at 2.206/5

The action is hotting up in South Africa and Ed Hawkins is on hand to analyse tomorrow's group A encounters...

Titans v Perth
Start time: 12.30
TV: live on Eurosport

Titans
There is a lot to like about the home champs. Led by the astute Martin Van Jaarsveld, they have the balance to go far. AB De Villiers is charged with scoring the runs, Roelof van der Merwe's job is to put on the brakes with spin and Alfonso Thomas, always in the wickets with Somerset, is one of the best around.

Perth
They ooze with international batting talent: Marcus North, Herschelle Gibbs, Shaun Marsh, Simon Katich and Paul Collingwood. Ben Edmondson and Brad Hogg, 27 wickets between them in the Big Bash, should be confident of having plenty to defend.

Venue and conditions

The most recent first-innings scores in the MiWAY T20 Challenge at Centuron are: 165-121-126-156-144. That is an average of 142. There is a toss bias to be aware of. In four matches which were not affected by rain in the domestic season last term, each of them were by the side chasing. A reduced-over match was also won by the side batting second while there was also a tie.

Match odds
The Titans are 2.206/5 outsiders here with Perth 1.804/5. With little to choose between the sides and, of course, a toss bias, it is a no brainer that we side with the South Africans. After all, they have players who can turn the game in an over. Just as Perth do themselves. A top-rated value wager.

Top Titans runscorer
With 798 runs in 26 matches, Jacques Rudoplh is comfortably the Titans' top batsman. Van Jaarsveld is next best with 766 in 36.

Top Perth runscorer
Gibbs is probably the man to watch if we are being fair. He has 302 runs in the Big Bash for the Scorchers from just seven games while the number one, Mitchell Marsh, has 309 in two more games.

Kolkata v Delhi
Start time: 16.30
TV: live on Eurosport

Kolkata

The IPL winners have fast starters in Gautam Gambhir and Brendon McCullum, the middle-order power of Shakib-al-Hasan and Yusuf Pathan all backed up expert death bowler Brett Lee and the smart spin of Sunil Narine. One of the best sides in the tournament.

Delhi
Virender Sehwag has recovered from an ankle injury to make the XI for the Daredevils, the franchise who have in the past flattered to deceive. Mahela Jaywardene will captain the side and that paragon of virtue, Kevin Pietersen, is included.

Venue and conditions
As above, while it should be noted the forecast is largely good with only the odd shower expected.

Match odds
Kolkata beat Delhi twice from three meetings in IPL2012, including in the first qualifying final. So it is something of a surprise to see KKR the marginal outsiders at 2.0421/20. Delhi are 1.9210/11 and given the strength of their batting, and undoubted super-star talent, it would be easy to get suckered in. But we will stick with the Knight Riders.

Top Kolkata batsman
Gambhir is comfortably KKR's top batsman in Twenty20. He has a whopping 1,065 runs in 36 matches. at an average of 28. McCullum has 876 in 34 at 28. That's some gap and shows up who is the more reliable.

Top Delhi batsman
Sehwag has 2,013 runs in 69 matches for Delhi, comfortably ahead of his nearest challenger, and defector, a certain G Gambhir. Pietersen averages 61 for this lot.
