Perth Scorchers vs Mumbai Indians
Start time 11.30BST

Mumbai Indians
The Indians beat the Lions in their previous encounter. But their camapign that never really got off the ground from game one when they suffered a washout. Defeat by Rajasthan ensured they were always going to struggle to qualify for the semis and they were looking for favours elsewhere. Spinner Pragyan Ojha is a man in form having claimed two for 26 against the Lions. Sachin Tendulkar's misery with the bat continues and this could be his last T20 innings. Billions will mourn that fact, although, one suspects, not the Little Master. He has been off this pace in this format all year.

Perth Scorchers
The Scorchers were the first side to crash out of the Champions League. Without a win to their name it has been a tournament to forget. They have been weakened by the loss of key players like Pat Cummmins, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Mitchell Johnson, who will both line up for the opposition in this contest, but they should have done better. The mistake they made was packing the squad with spinners only to discover the Jaipur surface wasn't one which suited them. Last time out against Rajasthan they were going okay at 76 for three but collapsed to 120 all out. They desperately need some big runs from leader Simon Katich.

First-innings runs
Here are the first-innings totals from the 2013 IPL at the Feroz Shah Kotla: 165-114-169-161-120-183-192-132. That is an average of 155. It's a pretty good figure for a wicket which has a poor reputation for runs. Neither of these sides are exactly setting the world on fire with the bat at present, though, so we would not go higher than 150 first up.

Match odds
Perth were a whopping price to win in Jaipur against the Royals last time and we considered them a fair back-to-lay option. They were doing okay before a brittle batting mindset infected the XI so we never got the opportunity to get out of the wager. At 4.407/2 they are bigger still. If memory serves I cannot remember a side so big for an encounter of this kind. Particularly a potential meaningless one for both outfits. Mumbai can still qualify for the last four but needed Otago to lose to Rajasthan on Tuesday. The Indians are 1.251/4. Presumably the odds will change - with Perth shortening - if Otago were to win. Even so it is not a huge leap to expect Perth to trade two points lower than they are. For a start, Tendulkar's form is such that they are in with a fine chance of an early wicket. That should shave off a chunk. Of course, man for man MI are superior but we would never suggest you got involved at such measly odds.

Top Mumbai batsman
With 63 from 47 balls Dwayne Smith, the West Indian, top scored against the Lions. Tendulkar may well be supported for emotional reasons. Try not to get sucked in. Yes, many Indians would love it if he blitzed the attack but all the signs are that he won't. He's 40 years-old and the reflexes are just no way near what they were three years ago. He has 20 runs so far. Admittedly that is from only two innings but look at the strike rate. It's 80. There's the clue. You may want to consider a lay of him to score 50. Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma and Kiron Pollard will bat at Nos 3, 4 and 5 respectively.

Top Perth runscorer
Liam Davis, who has the best strike rate of the Perth players, and Ashton Agar could well open again. Adam Voges, who top scored with 27 from 21 against the Royals, looks in decent touch. Katich does not with 12 runs only.
