Show moves to Singapore
UFC 275 pairs Glover Teixeira and Jiri Prochazka in the headline event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang this weekend for the light heavyweight championship title.
The main event is one of two UFC championship matches on the card, with the other seeing Valentina Shevchenko defend her women's flyweight strap against Taila Santos. There's plenty for fans of Mixed Martial Arts to get excited about, but we focus on the top of the bill brawl.
Teixeira was forced to wait
The main event was originally expected to headline UFC 274 but had to be pushed back until Singapore, but organisers and fans hope good things come to those who wait. Teixeira enters with the championship belt and is the favourite to exit the octagon with his prized possession still around his waist.
The 42-year-old from Brazil now resides in the US, where the 6ft 2inch fighter has utilised his BJJ background to rise to the top of the division. Glover may be getting on a bit as a professional fighter, but his style means he has been able to avoid too many gruelling nights, and he enters this challenge fresh and ready to go.
Teixeira brings a professional MMA record of 33 wins against seven defeats, with 18 victories by knockout, 10 by submission and five on the scorecards. He has lost four times on points and three inside the distance.
Another win is 2.9215/8, or you can aim higher in the method of victory market. A knockout victory will earn you a shot at 8.27/1 with a submission 5.49/2 and points verdict 8.88/1.
Prochazka unbeaten since 2015
Prochazka is a fighter from the Czech Republic with a professional MMA record detailing 28 wins and three defeats. The bulk of his success has come by knockout, with 25 wins by KO/TKO, two by submission and the spare coming on the scorecards. He has lost two by KO and one by submission.
Jiri is an exciting fighter who gives his all with a style that makes him easy to watch. He is an all-action sort who will push for the showreel KO, but that can leave him in danger of being caught, and it's that unpredictable aspect of his game that keeps fight fans on the edge of their seat.
Prochazka's last defeat came in 2015, and he has won a dozen bouts since. Another win is trading at 1.511/2 on the Betfair Exchange, or you can delve into the value of the method of victory betting markets where a KO/TKO is 1.834/5, submission 3433/1 or points win 8.615/2.
Side with skill and experience
We are backing the champion in this bout, siding with Teixeira's BJJ skills and experience over the striking force of Prochazka, although the outcome of this one is far from clear cut. Glover will be made to work and punished if he's anything less than 100%.
You can follow our thinking and back Glover for the victory, but we're happy to push our luck a little further and chance a third submission win on the bounce and fifth in his last seven outings.
