Wayne Mardle's Grand Slam of Darts Tips: Chisnall can prevail against Durrant

Wayne expects Dave Chisnall to get past Glen Durrant on Wednesday Night

Wayne Mardle returns to give his thoughts on tonight's knockout stages of the Grand Slam of Darts and he fancies Mensur Suljovic to progress again...

"As you know, I'm on Duzza (Durrant) outright, but this match is very lose-able. The match odds are a little off in my opinion, they should be 10/11 the pair and with that in my mind I think backing Chizzy to prevail isn't the worst bet to have."

Let's forget yesterday's selections, If you'd have asked me my name I'd have got that wrong too. The picks of Taylor and Price played dismally. Let's get back on the horse and clear all today's fences. With the group stages finished, it's now a knockout event, lose and you're heading home.

Mensur Suljovic v Berry van Peer

Whilst I don't like kicking a man when he's down, Berry should get well beaten. Mensur has been helping the young Dutchman through his dartitis woes, which is a really decent thing to do by the charismatic Austrian ace. Mensur was a sufferer of the same affliction decades ago. I don't think Suljovic will be put off his rhythm like Whitlock and Menzies were by the staccato play of van Peer.

Let's forget for a minute that Berry has dreaded dartitis, would he get near Mensur anyway? I think not. Mensur isn't a big maximum hitter but two or three maybe enough to win that battle. I think the score line is likely to be around 10-1, 10-2, possibly 10-3. With that in mind Mensur looks good for the highest finish too. The Match treble in his favour is the call here. This isn't a stats based bet this is a situation bet.

Glen Durrant v Dave Chisnall

As you know, I'm on Duzza (Durrant) outright, but this match is very lose-able. The match odds are a little off in my opinion, they should be 10/11 the pair and with that in my mind I think backing Chizzy to prevail isn't the worst bet to have.

So far in this event, Duzza is playing superior darts to Chizzy, fact. The averages don't lie, Glen's mean average is around ten points higher than Dave's. 101 to 91. Chizzy played steadily against Scott Mitchall in his opening group game, and then regressed to throwing some real mediocre stuff (relatively speaking, of course) against Stephen Bunting.

Chisnall is currently inconsistent, not poor. I believe if Dave has a good day, he wins this match, and as I initially pointed out, the prices are all wrong, in my opinion.
