The last session of second round matches take place at the Winter Gardens this evening and Wayne Mardle is quite strong on one of the surprise first round victors beating another player who done brilliantly to reach this stage...
"King is the better player and has been playing to a higher standard than Brendan recently. I think Mervyn can win this contest with a few legs to spare."

I opposed Brendan in the first round and was woefully wrong, most people live and learn...not me, I'm opposing him again.
Brendan's performance against Raymond Van Barneveld was superb, he scored well and finished brilliantly. Can he put in a repeat show?, I think it's unlikely given the fact that he hasn't played THAT well for 18 months.
Mervyn blew away James Wade. The King ruled from the get go and threw with such confidence. Mervyn is a touch/feel player, when the darts feel good in his hand he's a real danger to all.
These two dartists haven't played each other since 2014 so there's no form to go on there. King is 19th in the world rankings, a win here would see him march towards the top 16 once again.
