Wayne Mardle World Matchplay Tips: Class acts to win comfortably

Will Peter Wright cover the -2.5 Legs handicap against talented Joe Cullen?
Will Peter Wright cover the -2.5 Legs handicap against talented Joe Cullen?

We have two sessions of World Matchplay darts today and while Wayne Mardle believes the afternoon games are tough to call the same can't be said about the evening matches, in which our man fancies four big names to win handsomely...

"I know it's never easy winning cosily but these are the cream of world darts, and are so match fit right now having played for the last five weeks on the big stage in the World Series events, these guys should be in peak form."

Well, that wasn't the start we were looking for, the two selections not doing us any favours at all. Let's trouser some winnings today.

I really think the afternoon session is a tough call. Lots of even (ish) games, odds wise.

While I'd be inclined to favour the favourites I'd be backing them with no confidence at all. So I'll give this session a miss. But that doesn't mean you have to, so here's the line-up and current Sportsbook odds if you're wanting a wager;

Stephen Bunting (5/6) v Mensur Suljovic (5/6) - 13:00

Kim Huybrechts (8/15) v Gerwyn Price (7/5) - 14:00

Terry Jenkins (8/15) v Justin Pipe (7/5) - 15:00

Ian White (3/4) v Daryl Gurney (Evs) - 16:00

But I won't be passing up on the evening session that's for sure. It looks a real treat, with some great betting opportunities.

James Wade, Adrian Lewis, Gary Anderson, and Peter Wright to all win their respective matches with 2.5 legs in hand, so effectively they need to win by a scoreline of 10-7 (or better, 10-5, 10-6 for example, or if you're Michael van Gerwen, 10-0!)

I know it's never easy winning cosily but these are the cream of world darts, and are so match fit right now having played for the last five weeks on the big stage in the World Series events, these guys should be in peak form.

Of course their opponents should all be respected, and they most certainly are. Mervyn King, Mark Webster, Alan Norris, and Joe Cullen are superb darts players but let's be honest here, they aren't as good as their opponents are they?

Recommended Bets

Wade -2.5 Legs @ 5/8 v King
Lewis -2.5 Legs @ 4/7 v Webster
Anderson -2.5 Legs @ 4/9 v Norris
Wright -2.5 Legs @ 8/11 v Cullen

If the individual prices don't appeal then try some doubles and trebles, or even the four-fold which returns £63.71 for a £10 wager.
