After landing two winners from two on Wednesday, Wayne Mardle returns with his best bets for the quarter-final action in Dublin, featuring the 'best 11/8 shot' he has seen for a while...
"I believe this match goes to four sets, so all we need is each player to hit a 180 in each set played. It's quite possible they could double the amount needed as MVG and Chizzy are two of the best maximum hitters in world darts."
Another comfortable win for Mensur the machine
Mensur Suljovic v Gerwyn Price
Live on Sky Sports
Mensur the machine delivered for us yesterday. He never seems to play poorly does he?
Suljovoc has made two world class opponents look poor; James Wade and Ian White had no answer to the big Austrian's bashing of the doubles and trebles.
The starting and finishing facets of his play make Mensur so so difficult to beat. He's a very good scorer, but he's an even better, more effective, double hitter.
Gerwyn Price has played OK so far. He admitted last night that he's far from 100% fit but is ploughing on regardless.
Price has had surgery on a torn Achilles' tendon and, let me tell you, the scarring is horrendous. Gerwyn is going well to compete at all let alone win as he did a few weeks' back.
The doubling prowess of Suljovic should be too much for Price to handle, and eventually I expect the pressure to tell and provoke misses from Gerwyn, allowing Mensur to win comfortably 3-0, or maybe 3-1. So we'll take him to win on the 1.5 sets handicap.
Suljovic is a possible winner of the whole shebang, he was my ante post pick to make the final. I do hope you were on early!
Maximum masters Van Gerwen and Chisnall to deliver
Michael van Gerwen v Dave Chisnall
Live on Sky Sports
OK - this could be the best 11/8 shot I've seen in a while. Yes, that is the price for both players to hit four maximums or more.
I believe this match goes to four sets, so all we need is each player to hit a 180 in each set played. It's quite possible they could double the amount needed as MVG and Chizzy are two of the best maximum hitters in world darts.
In their second round wins, which only went to three sets respectively, both Michael and Dave hit five 180s so this is a confident selection.
