Wayne Mardle's PDC World Championship Tips: Anderson and Reyes look good with 1.5 sets start

The Artist is set for a tough match against Cristo Reyes
The Artist is set for a tough match against Cristo Reyes

With Wayne Mardle's 5/2 best bet selection prevailing yesterday, our man is starting to hit top form as the tournament progresses. Here's Wayne's two selections from today's action at Ally Pally...

"Painter on his day beats anyone but every now and again he'll somehow get embroiled in a close match where it should have been a clean win."

Andy Hamiliton v Kyle Anderson

If The Hammer was to lose this it wouldn't be the biggest shock so far would it, such is the competence of Anderson. Kyle is a very good player who has shown on the tour this year that he shouldn't be underestimated. The likeable Aussie isn't afraid to battle it out.

He has a self belief that you simply have to have to compete at this level and his confidence is growing with every match.

Hamilton isn't playing badly but he isn't anywhere near the top of his game either.

I can see this match being close for a number of reasons; both know they can win, both know it'll be a slog, and both know they'll be under pressure because the game will most likely be tight for the duration, I just can't foresee one way traffic.

It's more likely that Hamilton wins which is why I think the best bet is Anderson +1.5 sets. Kyle will win two sets, he's too good not to and Hamilton isn't playing well enough to stop him.

Recommended Bet
Anderson +1.5 sets to Win @ 3/4

Cristo Reyes v Kevin Painter

I know I shouldn't be biased as it's unprofessional, but I don't care, I want Kevin to win, but what I want and what happens are two entirely different things.

The Artist rarely loses to someone he thinks he shouldn't lose to, someone like Reyes, a qualifier trying his luck amongst the world's very best.

Painter on his day beats anyone but every now and again he'll somehow get embroiled in a close match where it should have been a clean win. Against Boris Koltsov in the first round, Kevin was clearly the better player but somehow contrived to lose a set.

I think Kevin will win this match, but I also think Cristo has a major roll in making it a quality contest, he averaged 93 and change against Wes Newton in his first round game, if he repeats that it might be good enough to take a couple of sets off KP.

Kevin is looking to get back into the top 16 of the world rankings again and a win here would certainly help his cause.

Recommended Bet
Reyes +1.5 sets to Win @ 13/10
