Wayne is 'supremely confident' about Whitlock winning comfortably tonight

The second round of the World Grand Prix continues in Dublin tonight and our man Wayne Mardle - who holds a very strong position in the outright market - is very confident about a Simon Whitlock victory...

"I'm supremely confident Simon gets this won easy enough, and dominates all the statistics along the way."

The big Aussie will be too good for the newcomer, won't he?

North can play, so I'm not underestimating him. In his first round match against Mark Webster, Richard didn't get the starting double very well but got away with it because Mark couldn't hit a finishing one, such luxuries won't be on offer this evening.

Simon was good without being great against Christian Kist. Every aspect of his game was in control. Sometimes, Simon can get a little rattled when things aren't going his way, but against kist he seemed calm and composed, he's clearly confident about his game right now. The 108 finish to win the game was excellent.

These two protagonists are friends off the oche so they know each other's game well. Whitlock is the vastly more experienced.

I'm supremely confident Simon gets this won easy enough, and dominates all the statistics along the way. North had the lowest double-in percentage of any player in the first round, if he's poor in getting away again the pressure will be too much, you end up chasing, rushing, pushing and pulling, every action becomes detrimental to your game.

I envisage that Simon will have the all-round superiority.

I'm loving the treble on the big man, the win, the most 180s and the highest finish. He should be too good in all departments. In their respective first round matches Simon had five maximums, North two, Simon's highest finish was 153, North 145, and as for winning, North had the lowest average of anyone in the round.
