Wayne Mardle on the World Cup of Darts: Aussies to progress at the expense of Wales
Two winners from two selections for Wayne Mardle yesterday so our man is in confident mood as he picks out his best wager from the quarter-final action...
"I feel pretty confident that the consistent play of both Simon and Kyle can take care of Gerwyn and Johnny, and the price of 8/11 is favourable too, I think they are a good bet."
Current form points to an Aussie victory
On the performances of the individuals over the past month or so Wales deserve serious consideration, Gerwyn Price and Johnny Clayton have both been having better results on the tour than the Australians Simon Whitlock and Kyle Anderson, but over the last few days it's a no brainier, the Aussie duo have been way better than today's opponents.
Kyle in particular has looked good. Simon has been steady enough. As a pairing they've been very good indeed.
Wales haven't yet found their stride, they seem a little nervous to me, especially Johnny Clayton. Clayton is a World Cup debutant and hasn't looked comfortable for a second.
I feel pretty confident that the consistent play of both Simon and Kyle can take care of Gerwyn and Johnny, and the price of 8/11 is favourable too, I think they are a good bet.
The format is single, single, double if needed, all best of seven legs. The pairs play the Aussies have been superb, way better than the Welsh, so if Australia do lose a single, which I don't think they will, I still think they will win the doubles decider.
