We're off to Nottingham for this week's Premier League darts, and our man Wayne Mardle fancies the reliable Michael van Gerwen to dominate his match against Gerwyn Price...
"There isn’t one stat that Price leads Van Gerwen."
Unlucky 13 for Gerwyn against MVG
Oh dear. Gerwyn must be thinking, please, not again. He's 12 for 12 against Michael, played 12 lost 12.
Michael beat Price 8-0 in a World Series event in Las Vegas last year, so don't rule out a 'to Zip' score line here, 7-0 isn't out of the question, at 10-1 I personally think the odds are a little short. Just for the record, I think Price gets 3 legs.
Last week I tipped Michael for the match treble, he won, he had the highest finish but drew on the maximums...argh. I'm sticking with him again. The odds aren't great but it's a night I don't fancy an awful lot, so I'm going to rely on the most reliable player.
There isn't one stat that Price leads Van Gerwen.
Gerwyn is struggling. Against Raymond last week he looked a little embarrassed and definitely a little annoyed at times.
The Premier League is tough. One week shouldn't impact how you feel the next but I'm afraid it does. When you're not relaxed the game seems impossible, Price is tight and tense. He needs to stop worrying about his performance.
Van Gerwen Win/Most 180s/Highest Checkout @ 4/5
Wright and Gurney to land tasty double
I don't fancy anything else that strongly. I think the 180 markets are tough, a few of the other markets aren't that appealing to me either, so I'm going to throw a couple of quid at a double.
Wright at 10/11 to beat Smith. I feel both aren't entirely happy with their games, but Wright has by far the better 'B' game.
Gurney at 10/11 to beat Whitlock. Gurney will start hitting doubles with some regularity SOON, when he does he'll win. I'll take my chances it's his week. Let's hope he takes his chances. Daryl has beaten Simon the last six meetings, and nine from the last 10.
*The double pays just a little over 5/2.
