Wayne expects Gerwyn Price to lose in every department against Rob Cross

We move to Glasgow for the latest batch of Premier League darts fixtures, and our man Wayne Mardle is banking on an in-form world champ dominating an out-of-form competition debutant...

"This bet is based on Rob Cross finding his feet in the Premier League after a difficult start, having triumphed in every one of his last four matches, and Price clearly not relishing the challenge at all."

Cross to land the Match Treble

Rob Cross v Gerwyn Price

Twice I've been thwarted for the match treble by a draw in the maximums, well this week I'm determined to succeed. Last week I tipped Michael Van Gerwen for the match treble, he won, he had the highest finish but drew on the maximums...argh. I'm sticking with the same bet, I like it.

This time I'll be wagering on Rob Cross to produce the goods.

Gerwyn Price is struggling. Mentally he's a little beaten, which is a shame because he's got a lot to offer. The sport needs characters. He looks good and plays good when he's relaxed.

Gerwyn tweeted over the weekend that he's not enjoying his darts or the Premier league at the moment, playing Cross, the world champ, in his current mood isn't going to help either.

The Premier League is tough. It's the best in the world going at it against each other week in week out for the best part of four months. It's draining.

I've said that Price is tight and tense. He needs to stop worrying about his performance, Enjoy it Gerwyn!

This isn't a stats based bet at all, unlike most of my selections. This is based on Rob Cross finding his feet in the Premier League after a difficult start, having triumphed in every one of his last four matches, and Price clearly not relishing the challenge at all.

I hope I'm right with the selection, but I hope Price finds his zest again.

Smith to out-max MVG... but lose

Michael Smith v Michael van Gerwen

Most 180s and lose the match, Smith 11/4. Really. Yes please.

Smith can hit maximums for fun, but he's 13/2 to win the match so we can agree he's unlikely to win, or draw. He's more than capable, we know that, but it's unlikely.

The 180 stats suggests that MVG hits a max every 3 legs, Smith every 3.5 legs. There's not enough discrepancy in those stats to suggest Smith can't have the most maximums in this match.

The 11/4 looks a great bet in my opinion.

Week seven fixtures - Glasgow

Daryl Gurney v Mensur Suljovic
Michael Smith v Michael van Gerwen
Gary Anderson v Simon Whitlock
Raymond van Barneveld v Peter Wright
Rob Cross v Gerwyn Price
