Wayne Mardle on the Grand Slam of Darts: Back Dolan to snare Snakebite

Brendan Dolan is Wayne's fancy to cause a mini upset
Brendan Dolan is Wayne's fancy to cause a mini upset

Wayne Mardle provides his best bets from the opening day's action at the Grand Slam of Darts...

"Dolan on the other hand just keeps improving and over the best of nine legs the format is short enough for him to pull off a mini upset, of which there are going to be a few in the group stages."

Back Dolan @ 2.47/5 to beat Wright

Scott Waite v Terry Jenkins

Scott Waites is a former winner of this championship so he knows what it takes, and he is arguably the BDO's best chance of winning the title again if he can recapture his best form.

Unfortunately though Scott isn't showing the same form that saw him win this title in 2010 and the World Championship a few years later, it's been a disappointing 12 months for the likeable Yorkshireman.

Jenkins is playing beautifully, and that's probably all that needs to be said as I'm going with the form, The Bull is a beaten finalist and most people wouldn't be surprised if he made the last two again.

Recommended Bet
Back Jenkins @ 1.684/6 to beat Waites

Adrian Lewis v Rowby John Rodriguez

As a rule I stay away from Jackpot as he can be a tad unreliable, you back him he loses, you dare to back against him and he'll have you throwing your betting slip in the bin. That said, I'm backing him on this occasion, I think he'll beat young Rowby quite easily and it's worth chancing the 5-1 Correct Score.

Having watched the talented Austrian a few times I get the feeling he likes to warm himself into matches and that'll be no good against the twice world champ.

Recommended Bet
Back Lewis to win 5-1 @ 5.04/1 or better

Peter Wright v Brendan Dolan

This could come back to Snake-bite me, get it, poor I know.

I just feel that Peter's form has become a little less consistent and the high 90 averages he was achieving on a daily basis have just dropped a little.

Dolan on the other hand just keeps improving and over the best of nine legs the format is short enough for him to pull off a mini upset, of which there are going to be a few in the group stages.

Recommended Bet
Back Dolan @ 2.47/5 to beat Wright
