Wayne Mardle's Premier League Darts Tips: Back Wade to hit a high checkout

Expect James Wade to hit a high checkout against MVG
Expect James Wade to hit a high checkout against MVG

We've reached a pivotal point in this season's Premier League Darts as we move to Manchester for Judgement Night where any two of five players will be eliminated from the competition. Wayne Mardle provides his two best bets ahead of what is sure to be a tense evening...

"The bet though - and arguably the bet bet of the night - has to be James Wade Over 90.5 Finish. The Machine will have at least three shots at this, probably more depending on how Michael performs, and I fancy he'll get one."

There are going to be some nerves on show on Thursday, it's Judgement Night, two players will be eliminated, outed, made to sit out the next seven weeks, while those left will be battling it out for the title and the £200,000 that comes with it.

From a betting point of view it's been a tough Premier League to predict, who really thought Raymond Van Barneveld and Adrian Lewis would be in this position after eight weeks? I didn't that's for sure. I'm not going anywhere near those players that have elimination on their mind, so with all what's at stake I'm going to look elsewhere.

Michael van Gerwen v James Wade
19:10

I don't care how Michael plays, James will make life difficult for the league leader and the world number one.

Last week Wade was dire on the doubles and that was rare, missing doubles isn't what James is known for, I fully expect him to be far more accurate this week.

The bet though - and arguably the bet bet of the night - has to be James Wade Over 90.5 Finish. The Machine will have at least three shots at this, probably more depending on how Michael performs, and I fancy he'll get one.

For the record, Wade so far has had six finishes over 90.5 in his eight matches. Just one more please James.

Phil Taylor v Dave Chisnall
21:10

The six-time Premier League champ, Phil Taylor, has never been a player who you associate with hitting a lot of 180's, but since he changed the points on his darts about two months ago he's definitely hitting a lot more. The points he now uses have a grip on them to help them stay in the board when impacted by another, which means less switching.

We know all about Chizzy, he's a maximum machine, normally good for a least three of them, usually more. If he's on his game and The Power is at it I think the 180 tally could reach double figures.

The main worry is that if Taylor has a peach of a game Dave could be overrun and get walloped, if that does happen then there might not be enough legs played to get the required amount of maximums, but hopefully Chizzy hits his double and takes his chances.

Between them they have hit 53 maximums, the stats suggest there will be 2 x 180s hit every three legs in this match, so backing at least seven to be thrown seems the sensible bet.
