Wayne Mardle's Premier League Darts Tips: Mighty Mike to overcome the handicap in all-Dutch clash

Wayne fancies MVG to win in comfortable fashion against his good friend and rival Barney
Wayne fancies MVG to win in comfortable fashion against his good friend and rival Barney

The Premier League finale has arrived, four players have made it to the O2 in London with the winner of each semi-final facing each other later in the night to be crowned the 2015 Premier League Darts champion. Wayne Mardle has two wagers for you to consider before sitting back and enjoying the final itself...

"I'm going for a MVG win, he has a way of fending off danger and I think this has the possibility of being over sharpish. Only twice in their last 11 meetings has it ended within three legs of each other."

Dave Chisnall v Gary Anderson

Dave Chisnall was the pre-tournament favourite to be eliminated after nine weeks, it's an incredible achievement for him to have made these play-offs. But don't think he's done, he's more than capable of winning this semi-final and in fact the entire Premier League.

Finishing second in the league table behind Michael Van Gerwen was an outstanding effort, but there was absolutely no fluke about it, it was fully deserved.

These two players are two of the biggest scorers in the sport, it'll be lost by the one who blinks first, the one who cannot keep pace with the other in the scoring stakes. When you're a scorer and you find yourself being outgunned it's easy to hit the panic button and lose your composure.

Chizzy and Gary will be annihilating the 60 bed, but for me it's the player who goes off the boil first that loses. It's very unusual that two high scorers keep at it for the duration, one normally falters.

Both will fancy their chances, that normally makes for a good, fast match.

I do believe that the pressure will be more on Gary however, than on the so called underdog, Dave. Now he's World Champion, Anderson is is expected to win as opposed to people seeing him as just capable of winning. And that brings added pressure. So for that reason I'm just going to go for Chisnall in this first semi-final.

Two matches in one night won't bother any of the four players on show, they're all experienced and know how to prepare for two tough games.

Michael van Gerwen v Raymond van Barneveld
Thursday, 20:00
Live on Sky Sports 1

Raymond beat Michael in the final last year to win the title and I think he'll need a similar performance to upset the odds again. He averaged just shy of 102 in that final.

Van Gerwen topped the league phase for the third year running, showing us again what we already knew, that he's the best player in the world right now. He has won nine of the last 10 meetings against Raymond but Barney did beat him in the league phase just a month ago in Aberdeen.

The game itself will be slower than you might think, MVG will want to get on with it and Barney knows that, I think Raymond will, and should slow it down, make Michael at least think about it.

There's a healthy rivalry and mutual respect between the two most successful Dutch dartists ever, but with that rivalry also comes the pressure of not losing, that can sometimes cause hesitation and the inability to control emotion.

Don't be surprised if it's one way traffic for the early leader, the tendency to try too hard when behind can happen when these two play each other.

I'm going for a MVG win, he has a way of fending off danger and I think this has the possibility of being over sharpish. Only twice in their last 11 meetings has it ended within three legs of each other.
