Wayne Mardle produced some old sparkle last week in Sheffield, stepping up to the oche and firing home two excellent winners from his two selections. The Premier League moves north to Aberdeen this week, and our man is back to provide his best bets of the night...
"But what we do know is that Dave Chisnall is playing the darts of his life and simply has to be backed to beat Taylor again. We all know what Phil is capable of, but I'm betting against him producing what he's capable of."
Dave Chisnall v Phil Taylor
When these two met a few weeks back the match was won by Dave Chisnall from three zero down, winning seven of the last eight legs.
That has seemed to bother Taylor royally, his confidence looked non existent last week against Raymond Van Barneveld, averaging just 86.80, which is Taylor's lowest Premier League average ever. We know that averages are only an indication of what form a player is in, but sheesh that's poor from the greatest player ever.
Consider also that Taylor had only two averages below a ton in 24 matches prior to last week's match, then it's a mystery how he has contrived to play so bad in the last fortnight. Did Chizzy turn off the Power that night? It remains to be seen.
But what we do know is that Dave Chisnall is playing the darts of his life and simply has to be backed to beat Taylor again. We all know what Phil is capable of, but I'm betting against him producing what he's capable of.
It's a big night for The Power, he plays twice, if he's to qualify for the playoffs he really does need to get something form the evening, the pressure is mounting.
Back Chisnall to Win @ 2.89/5
Michael, someway somehow managed to win last week against Stephen Bunting, he was slightly out of sorts at one point and so nearly got punished for it - if he's a smidgen off against the form that RVB has been showing recently then he'll get beat for the first time in this year's Premier League.
Barney will have to play like he has in the last four weeks however, and against his counterpart I don't envisage him not doing so - along with matches against his great rival Taylor, this is one that the popular Dutchman really gets up for.
It think this will be very close and will go right down to the last leg of the match, so let's wager accordingly.
