We're already at week four in this year's Premier League Darts and our man Wayne Mardle has highlighted two bets for you to consider from Thursday night's action in Glasgow, live on Sky Sports 2...
"Wes rarely dominates matches at this level and if Robert does have his scoring boots on then the Warrior could be chasing shadows."
Robert Thornton v Wes Newton
Robert played at his brilliant best last week to beat fellow Scotsman Gary Anderson, hitting eight 180's along the way. Will the Thorn regress to the mean? I do hope not. There's always a thought, and a worry, that after such heroics and brilliance in a game then the next one can sometimes be a bit of an anti-climax.
I think Robert will out-score Wes and with the added bonus of a partisan crowd the likeable Scot can inflict defeat on Newton, who I just feel is hanging on. Wes rarely dominates matches at this level and if Robert does have his scoring boots on then the Warrior could be chasing shadows.
Back Thornton to Win @ 2.1411/10
Dave Chisnall v Gary Anderson
Not a match where I am even going to consider trying to give you the winner. Both players have the game to annihilate the other, both can be brilliant, but both can be off completely. So in terms of picking the winner it's a tough call, but thankfully there are other markets to try and make a profit.
And I think we can make money here by backing the 180's of Chisnall, he looks fairly priced to me at anywhere above even money.
Gary for some reason isn't as prolific on the maximums as he used to be, horses and greyhounds sometimes change their way of running but I've never heard of a darts player doing it!
Chizzy is someone to keep on side when it comes to the biggest score of them all, even when he seems a tad off form the 180's still fly in - he was 1-5 down against Peter Wright two weeks ago and hadn't hit a maximum up till that point, then ran riot with a barrage of sixty hitting. The bet is never dead with Dave.
Back Chisnall Most 180s @ 2.26/5 or better
